The Rooster Behind The Leather

Well look what the wind blew in. My name is Kylie Coleman. A twenty something girl living in Northern California surrounded by windy dirt roads that wrap around the mountainside. I’ve always been amused with being creative and watching things come together. Whether it’s painting or being hands on with working projects. When I was young, sitting in the bench seat of my mom’s truck, we had our first experience with a C.B. radio. “Never tell strangers your name, I will give you a nickname” my mom said. We went back and forth on names and finally settled on Rooster. Well, she did, but I preferred Roo. At the age of eighteen I moved out of my parents into a historical home filled with rich history. The previous owner had the home decorated with newspapers about the circus coming to town advertising local ads, antique typewriters, and taxidermy dating back to the early 1900s. There, where my now tv is mounted, was two preserve roosters. They were beautiful, vibrant, and strong. As of 2025, I’ve wanted to go an innovative route. Do something of my own. Bouncing ideas off of close family friends we played around with the idea of leather crafting. It was a basic notion. That was until a local biker pulled into my driveway, lowered his tailgate where the entire truck bed was FILLED with leather, tools, rivets and so much more. He believed in my ideas and greatly help me establish the foundation of our once bar talk. There it took off. Learning all different types of leather, how to carve and bevel, and how to correctly set snaps. Before continuing my new endeavor, it needed a name, and what better than, you guessed it, Roosters Koop. Over this past year I have made numerous leather goods where I pride myself on knowing each piece has hours of dedication and soul. I will continue to grow and learn on each order. Hope you follow along on this journey whether it's viewing my leather crafts to even placing a personalized order and becoming a part of my Koop!
